Hokkien Mee is a favorite soup noodle of most of the Penang islanders, irrespective of their Chinese origins. This tasty, but slightly hot soup is a broth simmered with pork bones, fried onions, lean pork and shrimps. The boiling broth is then added to a bowl full of cooked yellow noodles and rice vermicelli, fried shrimps, bean sprouts, water convolvulus, hard boiled eggs, sliced lean pork, fried onion and chilli paste, to make up a delicious bowl of Hokkien Mee. In some cases, one can also find pork knuckles, prawns, fish balls and even pork intestines in Hokkien Mee. |
